BLACK SUMMER, ONCE UPON A...FIRE 

A solo exhibition by Dr Susana Enriquez was inspired by the 2019 bush fires which swept our nation’s bush with dreadful destruction.  The evocative and fierce colours of the fires shared daily in our news media at that time had a profound negative impact on her psyche.  The ubiquitous tragic news engulfed her and pushed her into an emotional downward spiral.  Following the COVID-19 lockdown, Susana confined in her studio, embarked on an artistic journey to paint the visions lingering in her mind.  Like the mythical Phoenix, Susan rose from the ashes of her emotional vicious cycle and rendered rampant flames and belching smoke in this abstract styled collection.
