She been using handmade fibre work in conjunction her ceramic pieces and intends to further investigate mixed media in her artistic practice.
Susan Haschek My intention as an artist is to express a deep sense of belonging to, and affection for, the local area where I have lived most of my life. My family; were pioneers in the local areas of Tuncurry, Nabiac and Gloucester. I am fascinated by the resources these families exploited to survive and eventually prosper. Themes dealing with Fishing, oyster cultivation, farming and forestry are featured in my artworks. I am curious about the relationships between people and the places they inhabit, and how natural elements effect people and their lives. What do these relationships look like? What does it look like from an aerial viewpoint or oblique viewpoints? What does water look like from above? Maps?
Which creatures live in and around that water, that piece of bushland? These ideas and concepts have appeared in my artworks on a regular basis. My work is never far from home, physically or emotionally.
Anne Grant My work is based on traditional printmaking techniques which are worked into with various other mediums including watercolour, acrylic and oil paints. I also create pen and ink drawings and ceramic sculptures. After a lifetime of being a city-dweller I now live in the sleepy village of Smiths Lakes on the mid coast of NSW. The daily act of walking my dog either leads me to the lake, a coastal lagoon bounded from the ocean by sand dunes, or to Blueys Beach. Slowly the natural environment has woven its way into my awareness, and I now appreciate the landscape with an enquiring and grateful mind. These artworks reflect the littoral landscapes of the lakeshore and seashore– the intersection of land and water. The colours and textures reflect the changing light as the seasons progress from the depth of winter to high summer.
Much of my working life was as a technical draftsperson in Sydney and subsequently as an engineering recruitment consultant in Perth.
I am currently studying towards a Bachelor of Creative Practice – Visual Art at TAFE & Hunter Street Art School in Newcastle.
It is my great pleasure to now live in this beautiful region and pursue my love of art.

Spring Exhibition
Gloucester Artists
Members of the Gloucester Art Society once again showcase their new work in a range of mediums.
The Society was formed in the early 1960’s and has been active continuously since when 29 members had their first exhibition in the Gloucester RSL, then on Church Street, with a 1st prize awarded by Gloucester Shire Council for five pounds!
Membership is currently strong and has remained fairly constant over the years, with the group meeting weekly (until COVID-19 interrupted things) with quarterly workshops being held by visiting artists. These workshops are held in the School of Arts workroom above the Gloucester Gallery.
The Society has enjoyed exhibiting annually in the Gloucester Gallery since its establishment by GACCI in the School of Arts building in 1999.

Pix From The Stix
A GACCI Photo Competition
After two years of COVID disruptions, Pix From The Stix is back with a slight revamp and ready to reboot for 2022.
While all the categories and prizes remain the same, this year will be a hybrid of the past competitions.
In the spirit of 'levelling the playing field' for all entrants, the judging will be done from digital photographs, while the physical exhibition in the Gloucester Gallery will allow for the photographers to present their photographs in their own way.
Entries are closed for 2022.
Winners will be announced at the exhibition opening on Friday, August 19 from 7-9pm.

Mixed Nuts
Artists of Wallamba
Formed in 2018, Artists of Wallamba now has over 70 members from the beautiful Wallamba Region of the Mid North Coast. The group is diverse and includes many disciplines: painting, drawing, textile and fibre art, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, design and photography. With many on rural properties, there is often an environmental focus. There is always sharing of ideas, expertise and innovation at our meetings – along with good food and laughter! The title of our exhibition ‘Mixed Nuts’ evolved from one of these meetings and brings a selection of artwork showcasing 10 members of Artists of Wallamba.

GROUNDED
Rachel Melchers
In this exhibition Rachel Melchers explores our connection with the earth and the elements. How the idea of being grounded refers literally to our physical contact with the earth, but how that connection manifests in the centring and balancing of our being.
Rachel’s immerses herself in the landscape to create works that combine abstract layers with fine detail to give us an appreciation of the wonder and delight of our natural world.

Magical Journeys
Christine Onward
Old Bar artist Christine Onward creates whimsical artworks inspired by her dreams and past experiences. Her paintings embody her passion for fantasy and story telling, and convey an extraordinary sense of optimism and sensibility.
“I take my childhood memories from Eastern Europe with me every time I paint. To them I add a bit of naive moods, sometimes folk art elements. With all these, the magic of all stories from the past suddenly comes to life”
Christine has a post-graduate degree in Psychology and a background in teaching. Apart from painting , her interests spread across a number of domains including nature photography, writing and artist media promotion.
Over the last years Christine engaged her efforts into creating and developing her own unmistakable artistic style. You will find Christine’s magical journeys not only in her canvas paintings but also in the rocks she paints:
“Rock painting is my most favourite thing to do. I started painting on rocks four years ago when the world around me seemed to fall apart and the therapeutic benefits of this are still felt to this day”
I paint to create magic. In painting, I connect myself with the true me, with the inner innocent voice of the child who still has a lot of stories from the past that need to be told.
I hope my art inspires everyone to take refuge, dream and create stories of their own: stories of courage, hope, gratitude and above all, stories of love
Opening Event Saturday 5th February 12pm till 3pm, Entry is FREE booking required

Melding Dissonance
Jo Ernst + Anke De Reuver
Anke de Reuver and Jo Ernst, two very different artists, explore the integratioin of old and new, nature and humanity.
Jo Ernst "I have long found solace in the companionship of the creek. Over the last few years we have been through a lot together. While sometimes quiet and still, and other times wildly distorting, the creek has survived devastation, remains exhilarating and beautiful, and is the primary inspiratin behind the collection of works for this exhibition".
Anke De Reuver "sees the potential of creativity in a diverse range of materials, transforming the mundane into exciting and often whimsical artworks. Her inspiration mostly comes from the environment - flora, fawna or the landscape. Her adage is 'Add a bat'".
OFFICIAL OPENING Saturday 2nd April @2pm. more info here

Brushstrokes
Bronwyn Barton
Although my previous work life was finance/number based my artworks are perhaps surprisingly far more organic. Inspired by the natural sub-tropical bush where I live, my semi abstract artworks are a response to the positive and the negative shapes, the textures, lines, shadows and reflections I see around me. I love to wander and pick up debris and withered bark to keep as references. My phone is full of photos of plant forms from around my garden.
I am an intuitive painter who loves the luscious properties of paint and the expressive marks I can make not just with a brush but with whatever is at hand. My process is one of act and respond where experimentation is encouraged. I paint in layers and use different methods to reveal the underlying colour which provides a sense of both depth and spontaneity.
My aim is to create pieces that are striking from a distance but provide the viewer with so much more when they get in close.
Currently my artworks are held by Collectors both here in Australia and overseas.
