Collage in cloth

Elizabeth Maxwell lived in Barrington village until her death in August 2022. This is an exhibition of the quilts that remained in her studio at the end of her life.

Pieced and printed, coloured and patterned, arranged then rearranged, Elizabeth played freely with composition and colour to create her unique quilts.

Her craft was honed working on traditional quilting until her skills, talent and vision set her free to fully explore her medium. The collection includes early pieces, family heirlooms, and community collaborations. The later quilts are fully developed works of abstract art.

This exhibition is a memorial celebration of Elizabeth Maxwell, the artist.

The opening will be held on Saturday 26th July from 1.30pm.

Everyone is welcome, especially the people who knew and loved Elizabeth.
