Essence

This recently created body of work by Christopher Steele continues the exploration of the integration of analogous mark making combined with digital media that he has presented in his previous exhibitions.

The imagery that forms the basis of the compositions is of water, trees and the female figure. Vertical lines are overlaid and used as a metaphor for life, energy and sustainability. These elements are digitally manipulated to create exhilarating works that engage the viewer.

These are each unique and complex images that are difficult to replicate, this complexity provides a level of interest beyond the immediately evident and brilliantly vibrant colour and pattern. The viewer is drawn to look in more depth for the subtle representations of the female form.
