On reflection
Jean Spokes

In relation to this latest work Jean says "There are times in your life when you can take a moment to reflect on the wonders of what you see. Some of these things are repeated from time to time but some are just one offs."
So she is using art to focus on some of these moments.
Over the last 2 years Jean has been building a body of artworks for an exhibition at the Gloucester Gallery.
The paintings reflect various situations or moments on water, some are reflective landscapes portraying just the energy & colours of images reflecting onto water either deep rivers or the shallows of the oceans or even a secluded corner of a dam with lilies or birds.
By contrast the floral works reflect fleeting moments as fragile petals share their brief existence with the artist. She says "Floral work is always a joy and challenge to capture with paint."
One of her favorites came about after reading the romantic story of the development of roses by the French Meiland & Italian Polano families to the magnificent Tea rose blooms we see today.
Jean reflects on her love of roses & is humbled by the passion & dedication of these families.
This, Jeans latest collection, has developed through encompassing Gloucester into the areas she & husband Gary travel around the country finding great fishing spots.
Mainly painting Plein Air, Jean works in watercolour, porcelain, oils or acrylic.
Styles, mediums & techniques vary according to what Jean believes would best suit the subject.
